Bernadette Gillota - Artistic Director

Bernadette Gillota was born in Cleveland and attended Ohio University earning a Bachelors of Arts in Geography. She completed her minor in Spanish while studying in Mexico, Guatamala, and Belize. Once back in Cleveland she pursued classes in Art, Photography, Design, and Dance. Since beginning to work in the film industry she has worked on several feature films and commercials. She has also been an invited guest speaker at several universities and libraries and has curated special film programs for the Akron Art Museum, the Twinsurg Library, and others. She was a nominee for the Northern Ohio live Artistic Achievement awards in Film, TV, and Radio.
In 1993, she and three others created the Ohio Independent Film Festival and held the first festival in March 1994. Since then she has created several short films and video installations. Gillota’s own film projects include two Ohio Independent Film Festival promotional trailers and a Spanish language experimental short film that premiered at the Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio. Gillota was the recipient of a prestigious Ohio Arts Council Media Arts Fellowship in 2004.
