SEEKING STUDENTS FOR FREE SUMMER FILM PRODUCTION CLASS

This is an Arts-educational job-training program that will teach professional filmmaking skills to adults in a hands-on, real-world production environment as an actual short film is made. Trainees will also learn about arts/technology job opportunities available in Northeast Ohio and make professional contacts in local film community. The class includes 3 days on an actual film set, working as a production assistant, making a short film. Presented by Independent Pictures, this Film Production Internship Program is a four week summer class tentatively scheduled from July 7 – August 1, 2008. It allows students to gain an understanding of the opportunities in the film industry, while they assist in the making of a short film. Classroom instruction is provided by local Cleveland film professionals in modules that deal with key issues and concepts related to filmmaking. These modules address topics that include: nature of production jobs; working with unions; job prep; independent-contractor work vs. company employment; film-set protocol/equipment; location scouting, viewing/ discussing locally-made films; camera work, lighting & gels, and grip & dolly demonstrations.

The deadline for applications is July 1, 2008. All applications must be in the Independent Pictures office by that date in order to be considered for the class.
